Intimate Wedding – Vancouver Photographer
Planning a wedding at the best of times is not for the faint of heart, but planning a wedding during a pandemic has been hard for so many couples. In Vancouver and the rest of British Columbia, the constant changing of regulations as a Vancouver photographer, as well as other vendors who work in the wedding and events industry has also been really tough. As we continue to navigate restrictions and couples explore planning intimate weddings and elopements, I am struck by the creativity and resilience of my clients as well as the vendors I have gotten to work with over the past few years.
I had the honour of documenting my brother and now sister in laws small covid safe wedding, which as many had to, reschedule and make different plans many times. Watching them navigate making hard decisions around who would be invited in person to celebrate with them, their location and venue, bracing the cold weather to be even extra safe outdoors showed us their resilience and care. Ultimately their desire and love for each other is such an amazing foundation on which to continue building a life long companionship and friendship.
In the end as love prevailed these two married outside, in their parents backyard surrounded by close family and siblings sitting in cars. The details they so thoughtfully put together originally for other venues and places transferred perfectly to their final destination. Braving the -20 weather, we explored the mountain close to home, finding the perfect backdrop to create cinematic artful images of the bride and groom. The couple ended their celebrations cozy in their family home surrounded by parents and siblings with a small dinner.
Well I miss large weddings and all the joy that comes with being surrounded by a huge group of people, I also equally love the small intimate moments we are able to capture and share that leave us hopeful for the future.
