Intimate BC Wedding-Vancouver Photographer

Katie and Mark first reached out to have me photograph their engagement photos. At the time they were living a nomadic lifestyle in Victoria, on Vancouver Island. I jumped on a ferry from Vancouver and they met me on the other side and introduced me to their home ( a super cute converted bus ) and dog, and we spent the rest of the day exploring some of the beautiful beaches Vancouver Island has to offer.

I knew we would be friends right away, and I was elated when they asked me if I could photograph their backyard wedding the following year. Little did we know, just a few weeks shy of their wedding I would be delivering my youngest baby, Bowen. Katie who at the time was expecting their first child and currently in school to be a midwife was incredibly understanding and was happy to have little Bowen join us for the day.

There are so many things that set this glorious wedding day apart! Every detail Katie and Mark planned was a perfect reflection of their personalities and deep love for extended family, friends and each other. The wedding took place during early summer, in the backyard of Katie’s family in the interior of BC.

They stood in a large field surrounded by some of their closest family and friends. Each person in attendance took a stone, and set it out to create a circle enveloping the couple as they recited vows. After the ceremony, a small reception followed where stories and songs were shared with the couple in the most relaxing after party I have ever witnessed! Ultimately this wedding taught me that, parties and ceremonies in celebration of unions come in all shapes and sizes. My favourites are always the ones that reflect my client’s personalities the best!
